# Connect Claude Desktop

In Claude Desktop, open **Customize → Connectors** (or **Settings → Connectors**, depending on your version) and add a custom remote MCP connector. The same steps apply to Claude on the web.

1. Set the server URL to `https://reconstruct.dev/mcp`.
2. Keep **Sign in now** and **Register automatically** under OAuth client.
3. Leave OAuth Client ID and Client Secret empty; Claude registers the client automatically.
4. Connect, sign in to your Reconstruct account and approve access.
5. Ask Claude to call `list_products` to verify the connection.

No personal access token is needed. Enable Reconstruct in the conversation’s connectors menu before asking it to use tools.

If an old connector still fails registration, retry after the server update or add the connector again. Registration is rate limited; wait a minute after repeated attempts. **Use Claude's published identity** uses a separate CIMD mechanism and is not configured for this server.

Remote connectors run through Anthropic’s cloud, including when you use Claude Desktop. The server must be reachable from that cloud; access through your computer’s VPN alone is insufficient. For the terminal agent, see [Claude Code](./claude-code.md).
