Connect another MCP client
These steps apply to an AI agent or editor that supports remote MCP servers but does not have a dedicated guide here. First, choose OAuth or a personal token as described in Before you start.
Add the server
- Open the client’s MCP server settings and add a server named
reconstruct. - Select Streamable HTTP (sometimes labeled HTTP or remote HTTP).
- Set the server URL to
https://reconstruct.dev/mcp.
OAuth browser sign-in
Use this method if the client supports a pre-registered public OAuth client and its exact callback URI has been approved. Anonymous dynamic registration is disabled. No personal token needs to be issued on the Platform.
- Select OAuth, set client ID
reconstruct-mcpand scopesopenid aud-mcp, and leave the client secret empty. - Save the server and start its sign-in or connect action.
- Complete Reconstruct sign-in in the browser, approve access and return to the client.
The issuer is https://reconstruct.dev/sso/realms/reconstruct; use its discovered authorization and token endpoints rather than constructing root /authorize and /token URLs.
Remove a manually configured Authorization header when choosing OAuth. If sign-in reports a callback error, contact support with the callback URI shown by the client.
Personal access token
If the client does not support OAuth, create an MCP token in Platform settings and set the HTTP header Authorization to Bearer <your MCP token>. Use the client’s secret store or the CR_RECONSTRUCT_MCP_TOKEN environment variable if supported.
Check the connection
Reconnect or restart the client. Confirm that list_products appears in its tool list, then ask the agent to call it.
There is no single JSON format shared by all clients. Some use mcpServers, others use servers or mcp; some require a type field. Follow your client's documentation for the exact field names and token interpolation syntax. A client that supports only the older SSE transport cannot use Reconstruct's HTTP /mcp endpoint as SSE.
If the connection fails, check the troubleshooting table. Once connected, try the prompt examples.
